About

Hi! My name is Troy Freeman!

I’m an actor, director and writer from Brenham, Texas.

I grew up with an (awesome) family of musicians and performers.

As a kid, I performed with the Brenham Children’s Chorus and Brenham Broadway Kids. In high school, I did all sorts of musical theatre with Summer Stock Austin and Zilker Theatre Productions.

Currently, I’m a first-year MM Opera performance major at Oklahoma City University, studying under Dr. Catherine McDaniel and Maestro Jan McDaniel. Last may, I graduated with an undergraduate degree from OCU with a Bachelor of Music in music theatre and minor in directing.

I was privileged with several performance opportunities in musicals and operas and served behind the table as assistant director of Dr. David Herendeen‘s production of “A Servant to Two Masters” by Goldini, assistant director of Professor Karen Miller‘s production of “The Consul” by Menotti, and director of “Marjorie Prime” by Jordan Harrison as a production in the season of student theater group, Out of the Box.

Outside of school, I have performed in the Theory of Relativity with Kismet Art Studios, Charlie Brown Christmas with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and “Master Class,” by Terrance McNally with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.

Also, I was the arts & entertainment editor at OCU Student Publication. I planned the budget for all entertainment-related stories and write a weekly column reviewing music, movies, and theatre. in 2021, I won a Great Plains Award for arts criticism.

Back in Brenham, I have been directing and producing theatre with my best friends since 2016 through our theatre company, Gibbous Moon Productions.

When I’m not making cool art with cool people, I’m usually watching movies with friends, listening to podcasts (way too many podcasts), playing video games, or trying to cook.
